ToolBox Talks are not common sense.
The TBT is one of the most important tasks carried out onsite and rarely is training given on how to complete these effectively. This TBT session will provide you with the key skills that will ensure everyone will perform thorough TBTs which can lead to a safer work environment.
After completing several incident investigations, poor or lack of ToolBox Talk (TBT) was identified as a frequent theme running through the findings. Upon further research it was noted that no formal training exists nor is given to personnel expected to complete these.
"But they have their technical skills" is always the response when this was queried - never make the mistake that just because someone is technically competent they are automatically capable and confident enough to complete a sufficient TBT.
It is not just in incidents this has been noted but also after completing numerous site based observations it became clear the TBT was either seen as a tick box exercise or, even worse, no longer a requirement.
As a result of this we developed our TBT Coaching sessions to enhance the quality of these which will have a direct impact on the safety and performance of the tasks.
Each 1.5hr session will focus on the main errors associated with the ToolBox Talk in regards to Communication and Situation Awareness.
The sessions will provide practical guidance on how to address and rectify these errors.
